Here is a brief instruction on how to update a template based on the Warp framework without uninstalling and reinstalling the template.

We are currently working on a notification plugin to alert you when an update is available for your template. Warp has a notification system built in, but since it is in the Warp folder, we chose not to modify these files so you can easily update the framework without overwriting these changes.

Template Update

After you download and install a template, you usually customize it to meet the requirements of your website. In this process you may have changed images, added some HTML or made CSS modifications. In your template settings the file verification quickly shows you all the modified and missing files in your template that differ from the version you got from our website. Now you instantly know which files you have modified in your customization before you start updating your individual template with the new template version.

To update your template complete the following steps:

  1. First, make a backup of all the customized template files, so you can recover them and redo all the changes at any time.
  2. Download the latest template version and extract the package.
  3. Copy all files to /templates/TEMPLATENAME and replace all the files.
  4. Redo your changes by merging your customized files with the new ones.

Tip: If you want to modify your template, it's recommended to create your own style. A style uses a separate directory and this way all your changes will be kept when updating your original template files.

Warp Framework Update

You will recieve a notification in the template admin for the template framework ( WARP ) eg: New version available! Download Template Framework X.X.XX

  1. Download the latest version of the Warp Master theme from here: http://www.yootheme.com/themes/downloads
  2. Extract this file to your computer. Using file managment tools such as FTP or other, transfer the warp folder from your computer to your webserver and completely overwrite the old warp folder.
  3. Congratulations, the framework has been updated!

Note: Updating the template framework ( WARP ) will not result in your template version changing, the template and framework have their own versioning.
